Jian Yan Wang

Jian Yan Wang joined the International Secretariat of Orbicom, the Network of UNESCO Chairs in Communications, in 2002. She performs multiple tasks including partnership development, project design and coordination, researching, analysing, reporting, providing administrative and logistical services.

On the regional level, she is deeply engaged in the biennial research and publication project - “Digital Review of Asia Pacific”. On the international level, she follows a series of multi-stakeholder dialogues (World Summit on the Information Society, Internet Governance Forum, Global Alliance for ICT and Development, etc.), where the significance of policy and technology enabling environments for socio-economic and human development is debated.

She is now completing her Ph.D. degree in Communication at the University of Quebec in Montreal. Her dissertation addresses the most urgent development challenge – governance. She has so far authored four book chapters.

She had worked in Shanghai for six years as assistant to senior level executives for French companies’ operation in China. She also conducts intercultural management training for Canadian firms.
